You don't need to purchase a special outfit for labor, but it can make you feel more special. You can stay in the clothes that you start labor in, even if it includes pants.
If you do want a gown, you don't need a specialized Labor Gown. For hospital access, you need it open at the bottom for wires (check) and the ability to pull it down from the top for epidural placement or receiving baby (check).
